It's Monday - July 15th

I'm baaaack!

It's been about a month since I posted, due to vacations and general craziness. I apologize for the length of this post, since I'm going to update you on the books I read during that time - but I'll keep any commentary brief since I may write separate posts about the specific books later.

I didn't pack ANY hard copies of books on my Ireland vacation, so I was thankful to have a decent number of ebooks loaded.

Science Fiction:
I won a copy of Escape from the Pipe Men several months ago, and just now got to read it. I'll devote some upcoming Sci Friday space to talking about this one.

I loved the Thrawn Trilogy - mostly because it was a joy to revisit Han, Leia, Luke et. al. I also loved meeting Mara for the first time, and can't wait to read more about her.

Crewel I've had on my docket for ages - I snapped it up when it was on sale months ago. I just recently got an ARC of the second book, so I bumped it up my list. Fascinating world, intriguing concept.

1.4 (The Future We Left Behind) is the sequel to Human.4 - a world where humanity has been upgraded. I thought the first book was much stronger, since the concept was brand new and surprising.

Paranormal / Urban Fantasy

I've read City of Bones before, but was rereading it to get ready for the movie.

Of Poseidon was a struggle. I had it as an audio book, and almost quit multiple times. It was just annoying to me - with all the hand wringing over the "hot guy" and I honestly didn't like the writing style. I kept getting irritated by the over-frequent use of sea similes. Clearly, I'm in the minority on this one - as the average GR rating is 4.13.

Fantasy -
Whooo - eee! This was a good set.
Memory of Light is the 14th book in a series I've been reading for over 20 years.
The Real Boy - I was afraid a little because of all the hype. But this book lived up to all of it. I didn't stop to take notes for a review, because I wanted to just drink it in after that first chapter. I'll be rereading it closer to release and reviewing it.
The Girl of Fire and Thorns was my BookSwap book - and I loved it!

Realistic Fiction / Sweet Romance :
Another one that was sooooo hyped - but I loved it! It may have been the "odd duck" nature of the duo - or the comic and Star Wars references (Honestly, when they debated which of them was the "Han" of the relationship I almost melted) - or just the fact that both characters came alive through the story. I just really loved it. I couldn't put it down.

Nerdbery -
I need to get off my butt and get moving on these, but I did get two done this month.

Currently Reading:

Sidekicked - I'm rereading this book and it's just as good the second time! Come back Friday for my stop on the blog tour.

I wrote one post while in in Ireland, though I'm hoping to write some more this week. I'm also hoping to get in some Teacher's Write prompts...
