It's Monday.. September 10th

This is a quickie post.... I swear! I know last week I said it would be a short post because I was typing on my phone *chuckles*

If you are here from some locale other than Teach Mentor Texts, please go check out the other posts on the "It's Monday" page.

I only finished two books this week due to the combination of being in DC, starting up my school week, and spending the weekend dealing with Cub Scout popcorn sales. (Yes, I'm a den mom. I make that shirt look good!)

Before I describe the books, PLEASE promise to jump over to my other post for the day. I got the chance to do a Q&A with Ann Aguirre as part of her Outpost Blog Tour. There's even a giveaway of both books that are out so far in the series. This is my first ever blog tour, and my first ever author interview. So, if you love me... check it out and share it with your friends? Kthx. ;)

My first book was ....

Liar and Spy by Rebecca Stead.

I know this one has gotten a lot of love in the blogosphere. I was, honestly, a bit disappointed. Don't get me wrong - it was a good book. I will absolutely book talk it and I think students will enjoy it. It just wasn't as deep and rich as the other two books she has written. The surprises in this book didn't feel as well developed, and they weren't as satisfying when they were revealed. I'm not sorry I read it, but I'd been hoping for a little bit more.

Exploration of Mars - my latest "I'm in love with Mars" read.

Keep in mind that it was written in 2001 - so there is a lot of old information in here. I did a "Sci Friday" post this week that gives more details on this and the last few nonfiction books I read about Space (plus my feedback on Doom Machine)
